Jarrett offers private lessons for beginner, intermediate, and advanced saxophonists and clarinetists. He also teaches jazz theory, improvisation, and composition.
He received his Bachelors in Music from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University with a concentration in Jazz Saxophone Performance where he studied with the great Gary Thomas and Michael Formanek.
Jarrett was living in Baltimore, Maryland, and is currently based in Mexico City. He taught private lessons and classes in Baltimore City Public Schools, where he taught about 15-20 lessons privately per week. Ages range from 9 - 45, and skill levels range from beginner to advanced saxophonists and clarinetists.
He has given workshops in Mexico City on free improvisation with drummer, Gibran Andrade. He has lectured and given clinics at middle schools, high-schools, and colleges in the United States, most recently at Towson University in Maryland, as well as Lehigh Valley Charter Arts School and Central Bucks High School West in Pennsylvania.
He is currently presenting workshops on the relationship between meditation and improvisation and has developed techniques to facilitate deeper listening, deeper presence, and more efficient ways to enter into trance while improvising.
As a teacher, he fosters the growth of his students with methods that consider the needs of each student individually. The content covered is always chosen for a practical musical application, and strong emphasis is placed on feeling, enjoying, understanding, and loving music.
Jarrett draws his curriculum from a wide variety of styles, and guides his students through a gradual progression that increases in difficulty and depth while simultaneously incorporating earlier techniques.
